97 will not turn over battery is good, I have a p0705 code tried starting in park and nutural no go backup lights come on when put in reverse,tried cleaning keys.When I turn the key I get just one click both in park and nutural.I thought starter untill I seen the p0705. Any thought? Car just went over 100,000 miles.
Your Trans range switch is probably not working properly .
If you have a Scantool like Tech 2 you can verify if the position of the switch is correct according to the gear shifter position .
Each switch is grounding the corresponding signal from the PCM , so it should be possible to use a multimeter and measure the individual range switch contacts without a scantool and check if they operates correctly .
The high currant contacts in the solenoid are not sending power to the starter, or a armature winding has opened up or worn brushes on the starter are preventing the starter from spinning.
