Throttle Response Question or Help
My C5 A4, which I shift like a manuel, feels "fat" when I blip the throttle from second to first around 2500 rpms (especially). Third to second can be fat sometimes.
At upper rpms everything sings.
I have only one dyno and air/ fuel print out.
Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, I am kind of waiting around on the LS1 edit notion and hesitant to spend quality time fooling around.
My assumption is it is either too much air...or not enough. Temperature and humidity do not make a difference...problem is constant rain or shine.
So..
1) Would an aftermarket airbridge help with the "fat".
2) Would only smoothing (polishing to mirror finish) the air filter side of the throttle body help with throttle response. (Dremel tool is ready).
3) Would the MAF translator be a tuning tool that will cure this? If so any of my fellow co-member in the area experienced with this tool and "up" for a mod party?
To recap... Low rpm throttle response sucks.
Please offer any wisdom.
Kenny
Also, am I reading this correctly, that you are experiencing this problem when blipping the throttle as you shift from second to first? Sorta like you'd do with a manual transmission to match revs?

Yes...blipping the throttle; matching revs.
"fat"...in my opinion too much fuel. Not a sharp rpm acceration. More of a lazy accelaration of rpms.
there was rumored to be a major re-write of the TM software in 2001; and a small enhancement in 2002; keeping it from intruding in situations where it shouldn't be limiting.

At least for me, when I move the shifter from 3rd to 2nd and from 2nd to first there is a monmetary neutral in which I can blip the throttle and the rpm build without jerking the car.
Anyone else's A4 feel/ notice this.
Also, below 2000 rpm is more of a "fat" than 2500 rpm.
So, I guess my question would be do you all think the car is running rich or lean around 2000 rpm.
Maybe a LS1 edit is called for. oh my.
contact Bfb and get the Diablosport Predator. It's biggest strength .......it quickens the shift between gears (dull spot) and you can even extend the shift RPM on WOT to allow more "fat ??" and as a bonus will bring you further into the REV on next gear......
