After losing my oil pump I’ve discovered galling on at least one cam lobe. 93,000 miles on the clock and was burning one quart of oil per 750 miles, leakdown test shows about 30% compression loss across all cylinders. I’m not looking to do anything crazy, but would like to get the engine back to where it was prior to the loss of pressure; cam, headers, tune and just under 400 hp at the wheels.
I no longer have the space or the energy to do this work myself, but I do have someone to do the work if I assemble/chase the parts. My thought was to source a new block and rotating assembly and after a valve job, top with my existing remaining parts, new oil pump, water pump, timing chain, cam and lifters.
Open to thoughts and suggestions.
Thanks, Clint

Give it a bore if it takes it, Id port the stock heads, 220ish cam that passes smog, do what I can wiht the stock intake system maybe better exh manifolds, call it good. If you can stroke it keep the same smallish cam youll love it and pass smog.
Waynes out in Riverside does decent machine work no vette tax
I’m not doing this because I want to, so in the worst way, I quite literally I don’t have a budget. I’m trying to take the most economical path to get the car back on the road while maintaining the performance I had before the failure.

Holy crap, is Wayne's still around? They used to be in San Bernardino when I was younger, I just thought they shut down a while back.
For a budget just remove engine and have a trusted machine shop freshen it up. I actually have a lower mileage(around 50k) C5Z coming in a week or so we are pulling the engine and swapping with a forged shortblock and ported heads. If your interested, pm me your number and i will pass it along to the car owner selling the LS6. Nothing wrong with it. Owner is just upgrading and putting a supercharger on car at same time.
Get the block to a quality machine shop and see if it can be bored or honed, and a simple and reasonable rebuild could net you a damn near bullet proof 400 rwhp for a great price. Your crank and rods will likely be fine and good as new with a freshening up by the machine shop. Its a great opportunity to make the car much better than when you bought it.
