Grabbing your air compressor of you got one let the steering sensor have it . There prob non aresol cleaners that dry quick and unhook the battery! you could spray on it before the air ! It might help! This would be my next attempt . Repeat the process a few times and maybe u luck out. A few light taps at the connection in the sensor inlet . with screw driver handle . it’s not like if it broke you can hurt it !

Air compressor through SWPS is a GENIUS idea.
Nonflammable no vapors... I suspect dust is most likely the cause of the dirty contacts inside rather than oils and stuff.
I would try that before the CRC EC actually in retrospect.

Let us know the update once you get the diagnostics.

I will defer to having a mechanic do the SWPS R&R if this fails - my mechanic groaned and shook his head when I mentioned replacing this sensor which I did not take as a good sign.

3 days with no errors of any kind relating to AH issues which it has never done before. So crossing fingers the cleaning worked.

Fortunately I have a 2004 which uses the cheap and plentiful SWPS. This seems to be a very common and troublesome problem.
With the older model Vettes it gets even worse with nothing but used and dubious sensors available.
There has to be a way to recondition these things if you cannot get a new one.
Or could a new one's innards be harvested and retrofitted into the older casings?

It seems someone did take one apart:

Someone commented: "I took apart my old worn out one. The internals of this part have the same techonlogy as the old slot cars. Cheap brass contacts with a brass wiper arm (recall cleaning off the slot car contacts with a pencil eraser?) Same high-tech crap here. "

So the contacts look like this?

If this is the case, they make electronic cleaners that also add a lubricating protective layer, would presume it prevents oxidation.
