hello, tried the forum search thing. did not really find what i was looking for in the way of info. i have a standard 03 vette. going twin turbo. it is an auto. going to keep it that way. i have a friend that can produce a RPM level V or better trans. 3800 stall. street strip car. looks like a 3:23 gears? not 100% sure on that. but my question is: will Z06 axles work in the standard auto diff? can someone steer me to someone who can help or any suggestions. thanks you
AXLES????? The C5 doesn't have axles per say. It uses HALF SHAFTS between the differential and the wheel hub. . There isn't any difference between the C5 and C5 ZO6 half shafts. If you need new ones, some of the replacenents are better than others as for reliability/quality.
I have some things that you should consider to up-grade if you are going to put that much power to the chassis...
Better Shocks, C6 ZO6 or better)
Engine Mounts New or better that OEM
Torque tube rebuild!!
Trans cooler AUX ADD ON!
Trans/ Differential brace (ECS Brace)
Hardened trans output shaft
C6 ZO6 Differential Output shafts
Make sure that the differential clutches and clutch springs are 100% in the current differential.

one of the only things that seems to be superior on the c5 vs the c6 is the axles with the zr1 being an exception, many guys swap out c6 axles for c5 axles but as Bill said there isn't a difference between base and z06
