I changed my ambient air temp sensor because the a/c was acting up and I was getting low reading on outside air temp. When the new one was installed the temp reading went straight to -35 degrees and the air shut off. Id s there something I have to do to reset or dial this new sensor in?
If everything was working fine and you disconnect the sensor the temp will go to -35 so basically you have an open circuit either in the wiring or in the sensor...if you know how to access codes through the DIC see if you have any "B" codes (Body)….you might have a B0333 which is an open in the ambient temp sensor...is the sensor OEM or aftermarket ??...for ANY sensors in the C5 stay clear of aftermarket !!….even though you replaced it I would still check that new part...if you know how to do a resistance check on the new sensor I would do that first...if it's 50 degrees out you should see around 19,903 ohms....68 degrees is 12,493 ohms.If that checks out good we will have you do some wiring checks if you want to attempt it... that sensor is a simple 2 wire thermistor.
Do a search for resetting the hvac. You have to hold a couple buttons down for a few seconds and then drive the car and it will reset.
Now that I'm thinking about it I believe you are correct about that...the temp will update either in X amount of time or something similar...don't have my FSM in front of me right now !!
