Default HUD and Blend door problem

The HUD on my 2000 does not work. Willing to purchase another HUD but am not sure that is the problem. Is it possible that the switch assembly could be bad. Anyone know of a trouble shoot the problem before tearing everything apart. Also looks like I have passenger side blend door problem that requires pulling the dash pad off. Like to fix both problems at the same time.Anyone have suggestions let me know. Thanks.

Got the dash pad off and got two new blend door actuators to put install. Dealer wants almost 1200.00 to install and the people that has been working on my car wants about 500.00 if I buy the parts. Replacing the actuators looks to be a real pain and not sure I am going to be able to do it. I think the passenger side is the only one that needs replaced but I will be replacing both sides while I have it all apart. Fixed a couple of problems with the HUD and it finally started working don't know why so I hope it keeps working. The problems I had have been documented on you tube. Any one have any helpful hints on the actuators please let me know.

Bump for similar problem on my 01. For me, it's the driver's side blend door that's fubar. Seems like it gets stuck in vent in the winter and heat in the summer. Just looked on Rock Auto and they list two different ones, depending on the AC system. One for manual adjustment, just a hot/cold dial. The other for "automatic" controls. Of course, that's what I have, and that one is double the price. Bastards.

Also have a HUD problem too. Mine works but I think a bracket (brackets?) broke. For some reason, the display has sunk. I can only see about the top inch of the display, even with the display angled all the way up. Not a critical issue, but I do like that feature. Hope it's something easy to fix and (wait for it)... cheap.

I have my HUD torn apart and fixed the two common problems with it and hooked it all back up and it worked. I have to replace bulbs in the DIC and HUD switches but have to dis-assemble the speedo cluster to do that. The pivot pin on the HUD was broken, replaced the pin per you tube. The other common problem is the light sensor in the front goes bad so a shorted it out again om you tube and now it appears to be working.

There are only two screws holding the actuators on if you look at a new one you would think there are supposed to be three.I had to pull the air bag assembly off to do the passenger side. That's when I found out only two screws. The driver side has only two screws also and the screw you cant see is a pita to replace. If you are going to replace the driver side let me know I can save you about an hour. Just a FYI I thought I was only having a problem with the passenger side but since I was ripping it apart I decided to do both, glad I did both actuators had the same gear cracked and not a hair line crack. Chevy dealer wanted almost 1200.00 to do the job, cost me 77.00 and a few hours of my time. Well worth the time as I found several other things that needed attention.

Got links? If you could find them (video history?) it'd be awesome to hear which videos you found the most useful

My car had the non manual controls and the actuators for mine were 77 for two but mine is a 2000 could be a 2001 is a different part number. I replaced both and they work like a charm.

When you say "non manual" controls, are you talking about where you have the ***** on either side that's either hot or cold? Like on mine, there is a central read out with a temperature value. On the driver's side, I turn the **** up and the value on the read out goes up, down and it goes down. The passenger side doesn't have that value, it's just warmer or colder than the baseline display. I really don't know what that's called, but that's how mine is.

I guess they call that the dual control electronic AC. Got my parts from Rock Auto which had the best price for the same exact part from other venders. Did not see much of anything on you tube about the blend doors so I just decided to tear it apart and see what happens. I had a lot of error codes for the HVAC system which mostly said blend doors were in the wrong position. I could only get heat out of the passenger side while the driver side worked fine. When I took the actuators apart they were both bad but the passenger side was worse the driver side.
