Default Steering Rack Dust Boot Large clamp

The Corvette Tax is alive and well. I'm in the process of "upgrading" a C5Z for track duty. I sent the rack to TurnOne Performance for a rebuild without the inner tie rods. Came back and I guess because they didn't install the dust boots, they didn't include the clamps. So, I trudged on down to my local chevy dealer and bought a new replacement clamp. They cut me for $30 for one!!!!

The engraving on the clamp says " 57 OET" which is shorthand for Oetiker 57mm clamp. It fits OK, buy with the pinch fully closed, It still can rotate with some hand pressure.

I didn't like the fit so well, so I did some online shopping. Finding a 57mm Oetiker clamp is tough, but i did find a source for 56 mm Oeiker clamps. They fit with perfection on the C5 dust boot and give a tight clamp before full closure of the pinch. $10.51 shipped for 4:

As a side note, taking the inner tie rods off sure makes steering rack removal and replacement easier. Two notes of experience, you will need a bit of courage and either the GM tool or a good pipe wrench to remove them. The white plastic bump stop can be pushed back with block of wood, light blows on the wood with a hammer. Going back, put the rack in place, with the mounting bolts, then install the inner tie rods. Take the mounting bolts back out, slide the rack to give you access to pinch the clamps tight.

yea I now have plenty of spare clamps plus a reliable source of stuff.
