Default 1997 Reduced Engine Power

Currently having some issues. 1997, the seats are not moving, the odometer does not show, and the windows do not work. Last time I drove long distance was about two hours and had the "reduced engine power" warning. What is wrong? What needs to be replaced? How much will it all cost?

It's obviously some sort of electrical problem. I randomly get this as well on my 2000. Check all your fuses and your grounds. After checking all my fuses, I have begun cleaning and reconnecting my grounds. I've done 3 so far. I haven't driven it enough yet to see if this solved my problem, but I'd say it's a good start, especially with the age of your car (97).

There is a sticky thread at the top of this subforum that covers electrical issues very well.

Good luck!

First thing to do is retrieve all DTC's from the cars DIC, do a search if unfamiliar on how to call up the trouble codes and post back here.

If you don´t see the odometer your serial databus is maybe corrupted (shorted) or you have a ignition switch problem causing to low voltage to the electronic modules .
First you can try to disconnect one of the star ( the starconnector with four wires only) connectors located in passenger footwell .
Check if this make any difference .
( Your windows/seat control will no work but maybe your odometer will show up and reduced engine power will disappear )
