Always better to rebuild, if you don't get the right replacement you will have a charge fault message.

Do not give up your alternator as a core exchange. Look for someone in your area that rebuilds them.

My car gets the message, no big deal, I have an autozone alternator specific to mine, My lights are brighter and higher voltage across the battery.
