Default Texas Speed X pipe issues

The X Pipe on my 03 z only has about 1/6" clearance on BOTH sides of the tunnel. It bangs against the tunnel under acceleration. I can't seem to figure out what to do that won't make it closer to one side. Any suggestions short of taking a hammer to the tunnel? LOL

starting to wonder if weak motor mounts are the issue the more I think about it.

Another "hit or miss" fitment from TSP stuff...you got a "miss".

if it's a 1/16" both sides then it was fabricated too wide. Nothing you can do...well there is, sell it for a better fitting system.

This is the best video I could get with it running. Has anyone had any luck with TSP swapping one out that you know of?

I went through this trying to chase down why I had so much cabin noise and how the noise changed during hard cornering. It was that I had interference on part of the X pipe. I didn't want to go through the process of getting other headers or x pipe so I just went to a trust-worthy muffler shop. They tried to adjust the X pipe with no success. The fix was cutting and rewelding a new section of the xpipe to go straight and not have interference. Here's my thread if you wish to see it (pictures posted) https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-lefts-2.html

Yep same issue. I ended up shimming mine over yesterday and putting header wrap on the xpipe where it was hitting. Stopped the sound but I know that is only a temporary fix until the wrap chafes through. I am actually on hold with TX Speed right now. What to see what they have to say about it.

X pipe was made too wide, plain and simple. I'd buy a universal X that is the right width to fit in the tunnel then have a shop connect it to the catback and headers.

OR send this video and pictures to TSP and argue it doesn't "fit" and you want a new/narrower one.

I had considered a section of radiator hose cut in half. Pretty sure it will melt though.

Just got off the phone with them and they had me email the video. I will give them a chance but they already told me they are out of xpipes for the c5 and "it will be months before they produce anymore"

that is why i used exhaust rubber, meant for high temp. i think i took a torch or heat gun to it first to see if it would melt, and it didnt

you could get something like this, try the same thing with the torch or heat gun, then cut a section out making i like a C

TSP recently stopped selling all of their C5 headers. I'm guessing this is part of the reason why. I tried to get them to sell me just the headers but they won't. I wonder if there is also an issue with the header fitment.

Tx speed asked me to send them the video but they suggested I remove the xpipe, have it cut and rewelded narrower because it will " be several months before they have any more for c5s"

HA, but this is what you get to deal with since you save money up front buying cheaper parts...you can't be too mad because technically "it fits". HOW WELL something fits is always a gray area.

Much better options out there that are better than TSP/EBAY crap but also not Kooks/ARH/Stainless Works prices either. Just need to do your homework.

I can't complain too much since I bought the car with them already on it. I only noticed the issue after I put mufflers on it. It was so loud when I bought it it could have had a rod knocking and you wouldn't have heard it.
I do have the receipt for them though and they are only 3 months old.

throw a piece of high temp rubber up there, if you get the strip with holes, you put some wire through the holes to keep it attached to the piping
