I am getting around to addressing this, I believe it is leaking from the cowl area. I have read that the sealant gets hard and separates, and lets water in.
I keep it in the garage, but have noticed if parked in heavy rain, the carpet will be wet, but not when I wash it. Also noticed years ago that there was rust on the steering wheel column under the panel. Didn't know how it was like that at the time, as it was before I knew there was a leak.
Might not be the cowl, but that is my guess. I thought I had a link saved, but could not find it, and all the threads I found where dealing with udders, window/a pillar/roof leaks, and not the cowl fix. I think it is basically just to remove the plastic cowl trim and put sealant in, but would like to know how to remove, and where to place sealant?
Anyone have a good link, pics, instructions, etc?
thanks
I think there is a really great sticky by Bill Curlee that addresses Z06 and FRC leaks. Several places for possible leaks, but if it is related to rust on the steering shaft in the engine bay, the first thing I would do is pull the LF wheel, the inner fender (There are 3 screws underneath, hard to see if not on a lift) and clean the "udder" there is a black tube that looks like a cow's udder with a split in the bottom. They are often full of leaves, acorns, etc. Anything that drains in the cowl has to go through that udder, or overflow.
