Default LED Taillight help

Anyone here a guru on modding LED tails or just wiring them in general? Just bought a set and looks like someone was already in there messing with stuff, I would like to Mod them for the halo as well as just clean the wiring up in general. Thanks!

Dam, those have been messed with by someone with out soldering skills.
If they work as is I would leave the internal wiring alone.

To do the halo mod you need to un-solder one diode. See the spot circled in red in the picture below. The marking on the back of the taillight for TOP is at the top of the picture.

Just un-solder this spot and push the leg of the diode through. Now it is modded.
Same spot on all taillights.

Thx for the reply Gary.

So I found a video of a guy walking through modding them. He unsoldered a few wires and tied some together.. that is not necessary at all?

Also on the 2 left taillights there is a golden resistor wired in, but the right 2 don't have it wired in. Why would that be?

I know the video you're taking about. DO NOT FOLLOW IT. This person doesn't know what they are doing, it's a ridiculously convoluted way to to do the mod. All you need to do is make one simple cut and you're done. Just slice thru the land (conductor) at the location shown in the picture below or do as SilverC54me said to (both will work the same)

Wow, that crazy how easy it is! Why do some of the vendors charge so much to do the halo "Mod"

Yes a few seconds with an Xacto knife and you're done. The hardest part is getting the housing apart.

It takes more time to open the housing than to make the mod.

The trick is to not go too fast. Gently cut the silicone seal around the back cover and then get a thin screwdriver or other tool into the seam and pry gently.
