Fuel Filter Replacement Mishap...
I’m pretty sure I just made an easy task 10x more difficult....
So I was going to remove the old filter and it took the strength of Hercules to remove the lines. The problem is, I think the plastic clips came off the wrong ends.
As you can see from the photos, the inlet side clip stayed on the filter and the outlet side stayed on the line. the new filter is the opposite (has a new clip on the outlet side).
I also had some plastic and rubber o-rings fall out of God knows where in the process. I believe the large one came from the out side and the other 2 from the in side.
can anyone set me straight on how to proceed?
*Note: the new filter is an AC Delco GF820

on the clips, you have to pry up on them from the bottom (the area circled from the picture you posted) and that will release them from the ridge on the line and they will slide right off... to install the new ones just press them on and they will snap in place... the other stuff that fell out I'm not so sure of lol
I could never understand the engineering behind the fuel filter attachment. After wrestling with mine I tried to start it and pumped a coffee can of gas onto the garage floor - could have been VERY ugly! Found that the "plastic doohickey clips" were not fully engaged. And even when they are - the whole assembly looks a bit flimsy to me....
