Default Hyperflash Problem

Hyperflash for both left and right turn signals but all new bulbs are lit up and operational. 2 in each front lens and backs.

What could be causing this? They are all standard bulbs no LED.

Are you sure that you have the correct wattage bulbs in?

My '99 does this intermittently. On most cars, the hyperflash is intended to tell you one a lamp has burned out. I'm hoping it's a grounding issue, and that if I clean the correct ground point the problem will be eliminated.

Also just wanted to add, the front turn signals don’t blink at all. The lights just stay solid. I just get a hyper flash in the back ones.

Are both filaments intact on the front bulbs? Sounds like you have a single filament bulb.

Did you replace just the bulbs or did you replace sockets too?

I just replaced the bulbs socket looked fine. Could this be a grounding issue and if so which ones would I need to clean?

They started working again and then stopped so it's intermittent. Any ideas?

If all your bulbs are OEM, not LEDs, and they are fine because you just replaced them, and when you installed the new bulbs you inspected the sockets and they are fine as well, not corroded or burned, then most likely the problem is either the MFS or the Hazard Switch.

If it were only one side, then it would probably be the multifunction switch (MFS).

When the problem is affecting both sides, then it's probably the Hazard Switch going bad. In a C5 the turn signal and hazard functions are provided by the hazard switch.

You can replace the hazard switch, but a Hyperflash Harness should fix your problem and is easier to install. As an added bonus, it will allow you to install LEDs in the future with no hyperflashing.

A hyperflash harness replaces the portion of the hazard switch that handles the turn signals with a flasher that's LED friendly. Hazards will still hyperflash because that function remains untouched in the OEM hazard switch.

Check this one out. It's completely plug-and-play: no splicing or anything.

Thank you for the detailed response. Hard to tell if it’s the multifunction switch or the hazard problem. They seem to both go bad together but I’ve also had times where 1 was working. I think I’ll start with the hyper-flash harness and see if that resolves the problem.

I also have the right turn signal not lighting up in the dash. Do you know the fix for that?

Any luck with replacing the hyperflash harness? As of a couple of days ago, my hazard lights periodically pulse fast and/or just stop AND I the 4 main brake lights are inoperative. What needs to be done to install hyperflash harness and/or hazard switch? Which ground (and location) controls the hazard and brake lights?
Thanks

It's fast and simple. You just need to remove the driver's knee bolster to have better access. The connectors you need to separate from each other, in order to insert the hyperflash harness in-between, are right there by the steering column.

Connectors should be directly below the ignition key switch:

Will this mod work correctly if just the front turn signal bulbs are LED?

Yes, and if later on you install LEDs in your tail lights you'll be covered as well.
