Hello,
I have a 99 corvette with 46k. It recently started making a squealing noise. Sounded like a belt. I changed out the idler pulley, tension pulley and the serpentine belt. Noise is still there. I have researched it and sounds like it may be the harmonic balancer. Wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this or had the same issues and what the fix was, before I go replacing unnecessary parts.
Thank you in advance
Not sure why the harmonic balancer would make a squealing noise but at 21 years of age, it is probably due for replacement. The original on my '98 recently failed at 44K
I have not tried taking the belts off and running it. Not overly mechanically inclined. I can figure most things out on my own but this ones bugging me. Will that harm the car in any way running it like that? Along with if it still squeals what would that pose the issue would be?
Thanks
