Guys I am trying to hard wire the radar detector to the accesory plug by the toeboard fuse box on passenger side......anyone know why those wires in blk duct tape have no power(yell, orange, blk)????? I figured it would have been easy to tap into them than to find connectors to plug in....any input??????
Anyone know where I can get the right connectors to fit into that plug? Been to a few parts depts, radio shack, and all the retailers...w/no luck!
Don't know why your assessory wires dont have power, they should. You also use the assessory fuse in the fuse box. Radio Shack has this little metal thingy that fits onto a fuse. Then, plug the fuse in. Part of the metal thingy sticks up so that you can attach a wire to it. That's what I use. I would have rather used the assessory wires, but I did not know about them at the time.
Manny are you saying that the wires do not have power (3 with blk duct tape) since I unplugged the harness? If so...duh!!! Thanks for your help buddy! Had a mental block...guess thats what happens when the girlfriend is rushing me to stop messing with my car! I had unplugged the acc plug and looked for connectors to fit in it.......couldnt find em so tried to tap into the 3 wires but no power....guess those three wires are attached to the side of the plug without power unless its plugged in......lol :conehead
See you Owner´s manual, page 6-66! The yellow gets power with the ignition on, the orange should have battery power, if the fuse is not blown.
...Anyone know where I can get the right connectors to fit into that plug?...
The plug is there already. Just unplug the four inch of three wires, with the black tape on their ends, out of the connector to the left top of the BCM, solder your accessory wires to the loose ends, plug it in again.
The connectors are made by Packard Electric (Div. of DELPHI)
It is best to use the pigtail that was provide in the vehicle.
The Yellow wire is the switched circuit #443, ASRY OFF, Fuse 11, 20A
The Orange wire is the hot circuit #840, C/LTR, Fuse 7, 20A
The Black wire is Ground.
Manny...my problem was that I had separated the 2 ends of the acc plug b4 attempting to wire the pigtail....I plugged it back in and then the pigtail had power...all done now...thanks for all your help guys!
