Default C4 going to C5

I have sold my C4 and now I am looking at C5. I took the car for a drive yesterday but upon trying to start it the pull key code came across the DIC. The owner said that happens about once a week and he just tries a few times and it starts. He wiggled the key, took it out and turned it over, wiggled a few times and then it started. I drove it and came back to his yard and cycled it a bunch and it fired up every time.

He tells me it has never let him down and it always starts after a few tries. The system cycles and everything seems normal but once in the start position it has nothing. Is this a LMC5 fix or should I be worried about it. He has a new Red Top in it as well.

Any advise is appreciated.

I just called him and he tells me the LMC5 has been installed. It does still have the open recall on the ignition.

Battery can have an effect also. The LMC5 also has a brown wire mod for certain years if I remember correctly. It may just need that done and it should fix the issue. I would not have the recall done.

I installed the LCM5 in my 03Z shortly after buying it. Was still getting the pull key message, did the brown wire mod and it has never come up again.

Thank you the replies guys. I will look into the brown wire mod once I get the car later this week.
