Default LS1 Hoisting Engine Help!!!

Hey guys I’m going to replace my front cradle as a whole. So the question is What is the easiest way to grab the motor just for support. Using a cherry picker / engine hoist. I have straps, chains, and wood.

remove the alternator bracket, use one of the 10mm holes on the left head. There is one on the right head already exposed. Best to make a couple brackets out of flat bar steel and use a bolt to snug them to the heads. Thus the bolt is loaded in shear and not in bending. You will be holding up 1/2 the weight of the drivetrain, and don’t really lift it too high. You can bust stuff at the back of the intake you can’t see very well

I had to remove my power steering anyways, so I just bolted right into each head with a chain to a cherry picker. I also used a floor jack behind the engine for a little more support. The cradle dropped down pretty easy after that.

You could also put a stand under the exposed part of the pan with a board to spread the weight or under the bellhousing. Either would hold it up.
