Has anyone used those little pieces of pipe that Mid-America sells?
They fit between the axle pipe and the outlet pipe of the mufflers.
I was thinking of building my own, but I want to know what people thoughtbefore I hack up a stock exhaust.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I went shopping around different muffler shops. Got quotes from $80 per side (highest) $50 per side and finally $25 per side. Can't tell much difference in the car,, but out back sounds much better esp when revving 3000 plus. :D
I've had the A&A mod for over a year now. At first I was dissatisfied with the results. It took several weeks for everything to settle down and I love the sound now. Very similar to Corsa Indy's. Total cost installed about $100. I don't know if I picked up any HP but I sure sound faster. :D
The best mod to start with. It´s a way to check: loud enough or I will have it louder. For 80 $ you get a sound like some 800 $ exhausts have. Had it on for a year and then upgraded to tthe louder Borla Stinger.
Go and get it.

Get it from Andy at A&A. Mid America's is made from aluminized steel where Andy's is made from stainless. Since your exhaust system is stainless it is best to keept the metals the same since they have to be welded. The aluminized steel will melt faster than the stainless.
I made my own for $0.60 with enough galvanized steel pipe from a scrap metal yard left over for 5 more. Did it for the challange. Paid the owner of a garage $20.00 for use of his lift to me to remove and install the mufflers. Welder at work cut the exhaust pipes and welded in the bypass pipes that I had already fabricated. (Probably the best install on the forum as he used a plasma arc for the holes and TIG welded with SS rod making perfect fillets.) It worked as promised. Big thing is no resonance, which some muffler systems are prone to. For a total installed cost of about $120 for most guys, its known on the forum as the "best bang for the buck." If you want to change it out for something different, you've only got a small amount of money in it.

If you are talking about the original exhaust - it is NOT stainless steel. It's carbon steel unless of course you have a Z06, then it's Titanium. :yesnod:
I have the A&A exhaust on my car and really like it. I had a Bassani cat back on my last car and it had to much resonance. I'd go with the A&A over many of the $750+ aftermarket system. Great Sound, low budget, no resonance. ENJOY!

Great, that's what I needed to know! Now only lazyness is keeping me from doing it myself.
