It will throw the balance off of your tires. I tried that once in my impala and never again. It was a riot watching the tire guy try to balance the tire on the machine - every time the tire stopped, the balance would change.
Now I carry a plug patch kit and an air compressor.

I recently had a 2019 Mustang (yes I lost my senses) - (which I traded for a Corvette) that came without a spare tire - in its place ( from the factory) was a slime/compressor kit. So all of this is confusing for me because there’s no way I can repair a tire along the side of the road at my age. Thank god I have AAA.
