AC Delco PF44 and UPF44 filtering capabilities (?)

AC Delco PF44 and UPF44 filtering capabilities (?)
I read here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=270036 that the PF44 has 25-40 micron filtering capability and the UPF44 has 8-10 micron filtering capability. The UPF filtering data can be confirmed through AC Delco website but I wasn't able to locate the data for the PF filter. Thread data regarding the PF filter seems high. Anybody got info? I did email AC Delco but thought somebody here on the forum could confirm. Thanks :)

The PF44 does better than that and is the OEM filter. It is adequate if you change your oil frequently. With synthetic oil, we can go 6-10K easily, so I would opt for the UPF44. :)

The performance numbers that I cited are directly from an e-mail I received from AC Delco; 25-40 microns for the PF-44 and 8-10 microns for the UPF-44. It might be interesting if an independent test could be conducted.

Delco does not actually make oil filters. Check with Champion Labs http://www.champlabs.com . I know they manufactuer the AC Delco UltraGuard Gold (as well as Mobil1, K&N, Bosch Premium, STP, and hundreds of other OEM and private label brands) and could well make the standard PF44 Duraguard too.
In any event they could likely give you the straight micron rating scoop.
