Default Power steering pump rebuild question

Hi all,
I'm in the process of rebuilding my PS pump on my '97. I have the retaining ring off the back, but am having a helluva time getting the backing plate off of it(won't pop out with spring back-pressure...must be goo'd up or grabbing O-ring). I also have removed the snap ring on the front of pump, where snout is for pulley. Any ideas on how to get the backing plate off without damaging anything? Can I push the pulley shaft through the pump to push out the backing plate possibly? Thanks for any help!

Steve

Ok, so I have succeeded in getting the pump apart. Now, I have lots of questions for anyone who has rebuilt one of these(pump #26049438). The bearing on the shaft is proving to be one helluva challenge to remove. I have literally been pounding on shaft, with a socket up around it holding the bearing. It is on there super tight. I don't know what the hell to do to get the bearing off without jacking up shaft. The pump backing cover has a pressure plate almost attached(like in type CB schematic) into it(can't get plate out) that is not shown in the type TC schematic that has the spring inside it, which MINE DOES.....but I also have another thrust plate, as the type CB has. It's like a pump with a mix of the 2 diff styles of pumps. I also have an extra dowel pin(see pic-it's smaller of 3) that was inside the pump(high pressure side, IIRC) that I have no idea where it came from(not in directions/schematics on repair parts paperwork). I cannot get the shaft seal out either(how does that get taken out?). Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated in this project. I jumped in to try and learn on the fly how to do this, since it looked straight forward on the u-tube tutorial I watched for LS1 pumps.
