tried to find my old thread to reserect it but failed . 2004 vert was grinding [?] when backing out of garage and somewhat on turns . had fluid changed at chevy dealer in august 2017 which was 609 miles back . noise is definitely better , in fact , pretty much gone other than backing out of garage . i want it completely gone and wondered about changing it again possibly to amsoil thoughts or suggestions , please . . . .peace
2 thoughts are you sure it's the diff? A problem with the axles can make noise the fix is it pop them out of the bearing and lube the splines. The other thought I have is your clutch plates in the diff are noisy. Try driving a couple tight circles in each direction to drive lube into the plates. I used Valvoline 75 90 synthetic gear oil with a tube of GM limited slip additive in my diff. Per RPM transmissions recommendation

like feeder 82 said and try lifting the rear off the ground and turning one tire. If both don't turn then your plates are sho shot. My where bad for years and there was no noise at all. The only way I found out was I had the pull the cv out and noticed a lot off wobble on the out put shift of the diff..took it apart and it was literally in pieces. And my gears had chunks torn off from the plates floating around.
