I'm making my way through a harmonic balancer change. I've got my starter out of the way and am attaching my flywheel holder to the flywheel. However, I'm concerned that the teeth of the holder arent quite matching up to the teeh in the flywheel as deep as i'd like. I am concerned about cranking down on my HB bolt to loosen it and one, or more, of the teeth on my flywheel breaking off.
Hold up here flywheel / crank pulley area I’m confuse here . What’s happening ? Are you talking about the timing gears ?
You did not have to remove a starter to change a harmonic balancer / crank pulley . Remove steering rack , alt, power steering bracket, abs bracket , get some rope to tie the abs out . Move radiator out of way . No need to touch the timing even unless your updating.

He's using a tool that locks the flywheel so you can properly torque the harmonic balancer bolt. You unbolt the starter and place the tool in its place

Curious how does this tool fit ? From my experience with the car the only way to get at the fly is a headache of work removing the entire rear cradle ,exhaust torque tube ect.
