how to unlock steering column ?
I have a 2002 manual corvette. I want to install the LMC5 bypass unit but I was told I need to get the steering column unlocked first. Can anyone please tell me step by step how I go about getting it unlocked first. Thank you.

I think compliance parts has a device that plugs into your 12v cig lighter that you can use to unlock the column. call them for help. Otherwise there is a post from a few days ago about this issue

Turn on your ignition but don't start it, make sure the column is unlocked. Pull fuse #23 from the passenger footwell. Disconnect the negative post on the battery and then install the LMC5. Put the fuse back in and hook up the battery. Should be good to go.
When I installed my LMC5 it actually locked my column. I called them and this is what they instructed me to do. Worked perfectly.

I got the unlocker but it still wouldn't unlock the column. Per advice of Richard from Compliance Parts, I undid the steering column shroud (not real easy) and tapped on the lock motor with a screwdriver and hammer. That worked.

Locked steering column caused by the fob.
If you use a fob and your steering locks up. Put the fob away somewhere and use your key unlock the door get in turn key to start. Wait and start. Do this the same way forever. I think the car is doing wat it does to keep you from stealing it. I have a convertible 2001
