Does the Odyssey Battery need a hold-down or any special adapters for installation in C5 ZO6?
Was thinking of replacing my Optima Red Crap with an Odyssey.
Also, which is correct size....
34PC1500....34/781500...or 75/86PC1230?
Thanks!
All I can tell you is that the old Sears Platinum was the then Odyssey 34/78 1500, with the 850 CCA rating. The OEM spec was IIRC, 800 CCA. That fit perfectly as a 78 replacement for my coupe - uses the regular hold down.. Still doing its job some 12+ years later, so zero complaints.

Look it up on their Website; I'm sure they have some sort of Application Guide..
You don't want a Battery without some sort of Tie-down - can't tell you in this Case..
There are Tons that run an Optima (including me) with great results..
Look at Lithium something or another if you want the Best (cuts lots of weight)..
I also had great results with Optimum providing I hooked it up to a Battery Tender since it's not a daily driver. Problem is, garage I rent has no electric outlet. Went thru 2 Optima's in last 18 months!

The other option for a car which "sits" a lot is to put in a battery cutoff and switch it off when you park it. You could just undo a battery terminal, but that's a bit of a hassle - especially with GM's finicky side mount terminals.

I recently replaced an expired Optima with an Odyssey Extreme 34/78-PC1500 in my '02 Z06 and it fit right in, zero modifications needed. Hope this helps.
