Default 98 Coupe electrical demons ...good battery...no start

Hi all....havent posted in awhile.
Starting to have some electrical problems.
Lost the "key on" chime...if that's what you want to call it. Not the key in ignition with door open dinger. It's the one when you turn the key to On and the gauges do their sweep while the DIC says Corvette by Chevrolet. No biggie...just wondering why it would quit working.
Other issue is more serious. Sometimes when I unlock it with remote, the approach lights won't come on but it unlocks. Put key in ignition and turn to On and display lights on radio won't come on. Turn key to start...no clicks...no nothing.
Then DIC starts flashing check this check that service that service this service engine blah blah blah.
Sometimes I can reset all errors and it will finally display radio lights and crank.
Today leaving the vet with a sick dog had to disconnect/reconnect battery to get it to start.
Pulled the codes and no current codes showed up...all had H behind them.
Cleared them and went back to town for dog meds and food. Pulled codes again and none showed up.
I recently put an Optima red top battery in it. A buddy of mine said he had problems trying to use an Optima.
Think it's the culprit?
I've got the bolts for chassis grounds soaking with WD40....gonna go thru and clean them next.
Most of the old codes were for DCMs and mirror stuff. A few were for serial link communication? stuff if I read them right.
I didn't go to college so it's hard understanding some of the lingo in the manuals...lol
Anybody have any similar problems?

I'd say you're on the right track.

Although Mr. Curlee says different, I'd put a touch of dielectric grease on those to prevent corrosion.

Not much - just a "touch."

Curlee likes that Corrosion-X stuff. Kinda spendy, that.
