So i bought me this 1999 c5 with only 19000 miles on it and drove the first couple months with no issues. Little by little this issue has come up ever time i drive the car. OK here goes --- Start car up and corvette by chevrolet comes on display. Next comes the mileage. Then it goes straight to options and cycles thru each one until it decides to stop. You can push any button you want and it continues to cycle thru the options?? Any help would be appreciated . I already have the dashpad off so i could replace the cluster or get it repaired but before i do this i am hoping for some guideance from someone with a little more experience than me. Thanks for any help!!!
Yeah i was thinking the same but with the DIC switch pulled from the cluster none of the buttons seem stuck. Im really hesitant to get a new cluster because of the mileage on my car...19000. I can find a cluster but gm says the cant reprogram the mileage unless they do the work! Ima bit stalled right now. I see Bill Curlee posted a sticky about cleaning corrosion from all ground points before replacing things! This is what im going to try since my dash pad and cluster is already removed! Thanks for the help...greatly appreciate it!
It does sound like the options button is stuck even though it seems like it's not. You can find the DIC buttons maybe and just swap those out. If not, there is a thread on here about changing the cluster and swapping out the chip that has your mileage on it with the new cluster if you are a DIY person with soldering experience.
Update......installed used gauge cluster purchased from a fellow CF member and everything is working as supposed to! Obviously it was the motherboard. Now to put it all back together! Thanks to everyone. Red
