Well, it is around 25 degrees here and when I went out to start my car I turned the heater on and set the temp. to 85 not in auto. So I set the fan setting where I like it to be and the A/C light comes on. I press the A/C button to turn it off and it flashes and comes right back on. I know in auto that the A/C will come on and off to maintian the temp. you set but when not in auto and with it being 25 degrees outside why is my A/C coming on when I know you dont need to cool the air to achieve the setting of 85 on the inside??? This does this everytime I have the heater on. Any Ideas????
The control system will run the compressor to get the amount of heat you are looking for if the engine temp is not high enough. The Corvette is designed to provide immediate comfort to the passenger(s).
Also, the a/c light will come on if you want more than 17 degF heat above ambient - if it's 25 degF outside and you want greater than 42 degF the little light will come on, even flash when attempting to turn off, but the a/c itself does not come on. The compressor operates to de-humidify the warm air going into the car and prevent fogging of windows.
This same thing happens to me - it can be mentally annoying - but I follow the 17 degF rule and it works for me. Of course, in Houston, 25 degF is a catastrophic event so we don't see many low temperatures like that. But it does get down to 30 or 32 a few times each year.
Enjoy the climate control system in your $50,000 car and remember that when the heater is on, the car is removing humidity and you are comfortable - just like it was designed to do.
