Default MAF Screen damaged

Hi all, decided to clean my MAF today and found the screen to be damaged. Car runs fine but not sure if the MAF needs to be replaced? Or can the screen be removed and replaced? Thanks.

have you ever seen like that before?
What intake system do you have?

You can gut it no problem, I remove my screen a few years ago no issues. Some will exaggerate on reasons not to remove it but you make the call.

Looks like someone tried to remove the screen in the past or accidentally hit it. I would not replace a MAF sensor for that. If you want to replace the screen sure, but I doubt you will see any significant difference (but it will flow as much as possible with an undamaged screen). The screen is used to help the sensor read more accurately and the wires are not behind that area.

Just remove the screen.
Cut it out with fine wire clippers. Then spray some maf cleaner all over it and reinstall. Good as new!

Thanks all. I have a vararam intake with the power duct. The MAF was relocated closer to the throttle body.
I may try to remove the screen and reinstall. If I have any issues I can always replace the screen.
