Hey guys so I put on new wheels and tires on the car and now it seems not as tight as it was when the stock tires were on. For example when driving on the highway the car seems wobbly and I am referring to the front end. New wheels are fronts 255/35/18 ...rears 305/30/19 is this something natural when wheel upgrade like this I figured it would be ok going just 1 size up from stock. I`m almost to the point on going back stock just to get the handling back ....any input would be appreciated !!
"Wobbly" is not good. Does wobbly mean it now follows ruts or seems to change directions suddenly? When was its last alignment? Could be that new tires also magnify bad tie rod ends now. I'm assuming the lug nuts aren't loose!! What other descriptions can you offer given certain road conditions etc? Or does wobbly also mean shaking at higher speeds.....wheel balance?
I'm sure some experts will chime in here. Good luck.
Not sure of wheel alignment never had any issues when stock tires were on the car. lugs are not loose and car does not shake or wobble when driving highway speeds road conditions are perfect it`s just the slight blip of the steering and feels like the front end is not very stable. Maybe the larger tires are showing other issues that were already there. I just no when car was stock when freeway driving where ever I pointed the steering the car was rock solid no bouncy wobbly issues that I have now may go to a front end shop have someone take a look
Seen plenty of folk upsize wheels without any issue so not sure if that is contributing. Yep, a good shop should be able to figure it out.......and an alignment NEVER hurts!! LOL
Three things to check,
1. Tire/wheel balance -- How good is the shop where you got the tires/wheels mounted and balanced, Did they do a high speed balance?
2. Tire pressure -- Are your tires holding pressure are the valve stems in good condition?
3. Alignment -- Does the car track straight, is the steering wheel dead straight when tracking straight? Also consider that these cars need a 4 wheel alignment.
If all of that is good then start checking suspension components.
