I have a 2003 C5 date of manufacture was 2/2003, I am looking for a automatic shifter cable and all I can see is that there is a cable for 2003L-2004, my question is will this cable work on my model, I understand that this is an upgrade from the earlier one. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim Kirk

I am sure you probably already know for a fact that its the cable, BUT if you are just thinking its the cable, then 90% of the time or more its the cable bushing and not the cable....The bushings can be replaced a lot easier and cheaper than the cable......Just throwing it out there to possibly save you a buck or two....
I replaced the cable on my 03 vert and did not know there were two different ones for the 03.
Of course, I ordered the wrong one.
I found out the only way to be sure is to call the dealer and give them the VIN number and let them give you the correct part number.
Mine took the later one and I bought it from Rockauto.com.
I decided to replace the entire cable from the bottom instead of just the bushings.
Good luck!

I have replaced the bushing on the top side at shifter but not the transmission one, I was just fiquring if I have to remove the exhaust and the 34 bolts on the tunnel to get to the bushing it would be just easier to replace the cable. Can you access the cable bushing on the transmission without having to remove the exhaust pipe and tunnel cover, I have not bee under it yet just wanted to have all the parts before I started to do all that work.
To do the trans end just the drivers side cat back needs to be moved. The rest of the exhaust and tunnel plate can stay in place.
I have done this a couple of times. Both ends use the same bushing. It is not easy to replace but is easier than replacing the entire cable.
