2000 c5 corvette Shift cable
HELP- Hi all I have spent a week trying to locate a gear shift cable for a 2000 4 speed c5 corvette, but no-one has one any ideas... I live in Hawaii

Usually the cable is fine and is just a broken bushing at one of its ends.
Even though most probably only 1 gave up, this is a call to replace bushings at both ends.
All that's needed is the kit. Use the white bushings (the orange ones are for Ford):
And
A little dielectric grease combined with long channel-lock pliers will make things a lot easier when installing the bushings. Just get 2 pieces of cardboard or something similar and tape them over the grooves in the pliers jaws to protect things when pressing the bushings in.
This is very doable and it's just a few bucks and a couple of hours to change the bushing at both ends of the cable, taking your time

Thanks everyone, I was trying to replace the bushing on the shifter end and snapped the case that holds cable. I have a c5 4 gear trans, and there is a different shift cable for a 4 gear trans than the six gear trans . I need the cable for the 4 gear trans which is a little shorter than the six speed. thanks

Sorry to hear that. I don't know if you already have the correct Part No., but just in case it might be of help here they are:
The part number for the shifter cable from 97-03 is 12561688
The part number for 04-05 (and late 03) is 10352529
