Hi,
I am planning a build for a new engine for my 2000 conv. I am looking for around 550 to 600 at the flex plate. Which size should I build 383, 406 or 427. I am leaning toward a 427, this is my first LS engine build.

Yes I have a 600hp (on the dyno) in my 68 el caminos backed up to a 6 speed and a Currie rear. It is a hand full.
I have had the trans (auto) to handle 600 hp. When I get the 2000 done it will be fun
thanks

thought it was going to get interesting here when I saw 383 and 427.
Hopes and dreams crashed when I saw LS based build and not classic iron block carb build
That power level comes easy wtih cubes and that big stroke....more driveable, no need to spin it up high.
Love high striung NA stuff but really....build as big as you can, get a great head youll need less cam/rpm to do it.
Makes for the best st car
Really wouldnt take much with a 427 to get there..even funner would be to cam it so the idle is stockish, quiet muffler etc. Love the stealth factor
