Car is an '02 ZO6. It has been sitting in the weather far too long awaiting a clutch replacement. (I have been recovering from car wreck injuries that made it impossible to even tinker with...). Waiting on clutch parts and the plkan is to send it to a shop since I can't handle the physical part of doing the job yet. Today I got a new battery and it started right up. BUT....
The wipers and washer came on and wouldn't shut off. I moved the turn signal stick back and forth to break up any corrosion that might be shorting it and nothing changed. I'm reading here and there that there is some sort of wiper motor control board mounted on the motor that goes bad. Does this sound like it might be the culprit? The interior got damp (Florida) and I have been running a dehumidifier in the interior to bring it back to completely dry. The car didn't like waking up after it's death nap and all sorts of warnings flashed for a while. After it warmed up a little them seem to have gone away.
Anyone know if I am on the right track at least? Anybody got a number and source on this PC?
If the cowl drains are plugged the wiper motor will get submerged when the car is out in heavy rain and the control circuit board is part of the wiper motor. If this is the case and it doesn't operate right when it dries out a new motor assembly is about $65.
Sometimes you get lucky and can leave the car in hot sun and bake out the water but sometimes the wiper will act up again. I’ve gone thru 4 motors and finally just ripped the stupid udders out of the wiper motor bay. This is even after I cut the bottom nipples off first. Works fine in any rain now....

Did the little button on the end of the stalk start to pop out or pop out? I believe when it does, the wipers will stay on and you can find fixes for that.
The wiper motor is drivers side....how did these udders look? I just ripped mine out after plugged, tried cutting ends, still flooded motor. There is just a bit of lip there that can still retain water in the bay when they are in.
I bought a new motor assembly from ebay but Rock Auto has several choices too. What is the purpose of the udder drain design instead of just a hole instead?

They were all oddly clean.....I probably need to pull the black cover under the wipers and look at this point.

I think it's supposed to route water away from the firewall and other areas to prevent water seeping into other things. Sort of drops the water through a clear space.

Your post didn't sink in until I was out detailing today and found the button on the passenger floor! I snapped it back in place, but get the feeling there is a spring missing since it doesn't move now that it is back in place....will follow this possibility soon. Thanks!

Read this post - it's 2 springs and you can get them and cut them from a BIC lighter if you can't find yours. If you can find one, you will know how long to cut the BIC spring.
When the button pops out - the wipers run continuously.
To close this out- I gt a BIC lighter and took the flint spring out of it. Cut it in half and twisted a spring onto each post. Took a little fiddling to get the thing back into place, but after pushing it a few times to seat everything it fixed the problem. Everything is fine now.
Now I have to figure out why neither hood catch is working....hood won't close.

Thanks for posting the resolution - a lot of people do not.
