Default drivers seat

starting to get familiar with my 97 and noticed the drivers seat seems to have about an inch of play when adjusted for me. feels like it does not click in position when set it and i can rock it back and forth about an inch. btw it's power. not a real issue now but it's gonna bug me later. did not notice this when i took a test drive when i bought it. i'll get a flash light later this week and have a look under there. kinda looks like the driver side seat motor works twice as much as the pass side. thanks Denny

Just to be sure, which one of these 2 problems are you experiencing? Or is it both?

Sliding seat (shims):

Rocking seat (flanges):

Besides the problem with the shims, there is also the possibility of 1 or 2 flanges at the rear of the seat track being bent or broken.

This video explains in a very detailed way the replacement process of both, shims and flanges.

Seat Track Repair (Shims and Flanges)
My driver's seat had both problems. Replacing the track shims fixed problem one. Unfortunately All my flanges looked fine. The play seems to be in the tilt mechanism itself, but I haven't been able to track it down.
