Hello everyone, has anyone wired an aftermarket fan relay controller? My fans and relays are good, however the relay's themselves no longer have a snug fit in the fuse box and do not make good contact, and I end up overheating because my fans do not turn on. I was looking at Painless wiring dual fan activation kit and it looks like it will solve all of my needs but their instillation instruction are not exactly awe inspiring. Has anyone had any luck with this or a similar kit? I am looking to retain the factory temp sensor and use the factory computer to control the fans, I just need a new set of relays that have good connections to run the fans. I figured this would be easier than replacing my entire fuse panel. Any input would be appreciated prior to me splicing this kit into my wires. Thanks
I have two c5's both with aftermarket fan controllers from Sac. City Corvettes. Works as a manual system you control and when turned off the factory computer controls the fans. Check them out on line.
Have you had a competent tuner with HP or EFILIVE to try and reset your fan settings ?? I have never heard of a C5 or C6 that would not respond to fan setting changes---Even a 97-99
You must remember even if you lower the fan settings the engine will NOT run cooler unless you install a cooler thermostat---A stock thermo opens at 198* so even if you set the fans to come on sooner the coolant is not circulating thru the engine until the temps reach 198*
To make your engine run cooler--install a 160* thermo
set the fans as such
#1 ON at 200 OFF at 195
#2 ON at 204 OFF at 201
This should make your eng run from between 185 and 198
And if you have an auto trans the trans temps should also cool down as well----
I have never seen a C5 that would not respond to basic fan re adjustments with tuning
