Default Voltage and RPM Issues

I have a 2001 6 speed with 85K miles. Although I'm not seeing an specific electrical related codes, I've been having voltage and rpm drop issues, especially when shifting and braking for a complete stop. Out of 4 tests at O'Reilly and Autozone, the voltage regulator has failed twice. I can provide more detail if anyone thinks it might help

I've seen a lot of differing part numbers for the alternator and regulator. Should I just replace the voltage regulator (doesn't look that hard), find the appropriate alternator rebuild, or have the original unit rebuilt? Thoughts? Part numbers / sources / brands would be helpful.
Thanks All.

Hey, Randy! Hope everything goes well after our conversation on this subject via PM.

I'm just replying here to avoid leaving this thread open-ended, in case it might help someone in the future.

These are the correct voltage regulators. Click here for the links.

OP I suggest it would be wise to buy your own testing equipment - I had similar issues on my ‘98 and had 2 of the big name auto parts suppliers check my car and their results were different - and as it turned out wrong - Just saying.

I've got the alternator out and the regulator cover off. I can't seem to get the regulator out after removing the 2 regulator nuts. Is there another nut hiding? I've searched for a good video and/or instructions with no success. Anyone done this or have a link to other help?
Thanks

If you are interested, I found a vender that builds 180A, 6-phase, 12 diode upgrades for approx cost of new OEM unit. It us FULLY compliant with PCM!

I would post link but not sure it is allowed or not ... new to forum.

PM me if interested; I am not affiliated in any way to vender. I have one installed on my C5 and have seen it put out well over 100A at idle!

@Ran-D Try contacting @standup triple . He successfully replaced his voltage regulator a week or so ago. Click here to check his thread (he confirmed positive results in Post 23).

Welcome to the Forum. Not sure if a 180A unit works for my car, but please post the link (yup, ok) for all to see. Thanks

Once again, I am not affiliated with this vendor ... just very happy with the product, thus far.

It is DC Power Inc. :
https://www.dcpowerinc.com/

The part number that I have is: [13968-180-HP]

Cost was $469.95 on 3/13/2019.

So far, it has exceeded my expectations.
