I had my oil changed about 6 weeks ago. My car ran fine for the next 4 weeks. The last two weeks I've been out of town. This morning I drove my C5 for the first time in two weeks and the 'Low Oil' indicatator came on (and stayed on). However, the Oil Life is showing as 83% left.
Probably a stupid question, but if there is as much as 83% left, why would the 'Low oil' indicator come on? Is this something to do with the car sitting for 2 weeks? I thought I would ask here before rushing out to buy more oil to top it up with....please help!
Oil Life doesn't indicate the amount of oil. You need to check your oil with the dipstick. Whoever changed it probably didn't put in enough oil, or else you're using oil or leaking it.
Get into the habit of checking your oil level (dip stick) on a regular basis; especially after you or someone else changes it. The "warning" will sometimes come on if you have been parked on a hill, throwing off the sensor.
