Default Issue After Battery Replacement

Hi,

I just replaced a still working 8 year old battery in my ‘04 C5Z. Easy enough and car starts just fine. However, now every time I start it the heater is at full high heat even though that’s not how I had it set when I turned the car off. I never had this issue before and my car is always on a battery tender since it’s a weekend car.

Did I miss something? No error codes.

Thanks

LOL! EASY FIX!

Go to key on engine on.

If you have the MEMORY feature, set all your settings HVAC, Radio, seat etc... that you can control to what you want them to remain at. Make sure that you set the level and air circulation modes to the desired settings. If I remember correctly the defrost heat setting is the default setting that it goes to when the battery is disconnected.
Then press and HOLD the MEMORY #1 button on the drivers door until the little light blinks. Now all of those settings are memorized to MEM1 If it were me, Ide also do MEM #2 also so you don't hit it one day and have a similar issue.

You have to re sync the FOBs to the car also so they select the correct memory settings. If the FOBs don't work, just press and hold LOCK and UN LOCK at the same time till the horn beeps. Then the FOB is resynced to the car. If that doesn't work, you will need to RE LEARN the FOB/FOBs to the car.

PS,,,,,, All of this is explained in the OWNERS MANUAL You can find it on line if you need to....

Bill

Wow no kidding. I never noticed if my car does anything like that. Big time new thing to me.

Wow Bill, awesome THANK YOU. I tried this already with memory 1 but haven’t tried # 2 yet. I’m not sure which key I brought with me but I’ll give this a spin. Is re-syncing the key fob mandatory? It works fine to lock and unlock the car.

Interesting, I replaced the 2 batteries in my C5 in 6 years of ownership and never had any of the issues after replacement that OP has. But then I have chosen the Manual Mode for Climate Control Options.
