Default air in coolant or clog?

so....

i finally got the new engine in my car, having an issue with it getting hot while idling but soon as i start to rev it or drive temps drop? i've seen 240's just while idling if i hold rpms up a little 1500-2000 temps drop. hose going to the radiator i can keep my hands on them (only warm) heater core hoses get hot cant touch them, i bleed the steam port, let it idle with cap off a few times, did the hole 3000 rpms thing a few times. thinking maybe the radiator is clogged?

im lost on where to go from here

What engine, what radiator? I've got a similar thing with my LS3 and Dewitt's radiator. It will get up to about 240 or so on initial warmup, then the temp will drop rapidly and stay around 200 all day long. After your temp drops initially will it climb back up?

Using stock fans and radiator, the fans are working correctly low/hi and are starting at 195 low 205 hi

going to swap the thermostat today see if thats it, if not probably pickup a ECP aluminum radiator

Sometimes it's something as simple as installing the thermostat incorrectly, with the wrong side facing the engine block, don't ask me how I know this. lol

Have you tried to clean the radiator and the AC Condenser?? There is a 1" space between them and that space can collect a LOT of trash/sand/dirt, grass and stuff... I use a garden gose and back flush the radiator. You would be amazed on the sand and dirt that comes out. DO NOT use a pressure washer.

The fact that your temps lower with increased RPM leads me to believe it is not your radiator. It sounds like an air bubble or maybe a partially functioning thermostat.

I drained the radiator then installed a 187* thermostat filled it up bled the system and now got rock solid temps idling between 198 & 201 let it idle for 45 minutes then drove it so it looks like its all good now

thanks for the input!
