Ok, so I wanted big brake upgrade, called the place that I wont bash, he told me Id have to get 18 front 19 rear to make them work. Bought some cool wheels, that really look good on my car. flashforward , finally got the bucks for big brake GM 6 piston front 4 rear. Cool so far. First they sent me 3 front calipers, and one rear. ok, I drive an hour to ups to send one back. Finally got the caliper and took it to the shop, My new Wheels wont work....needs over 1/2" spacer. No good...Sent the brakes back, because I dont want new wheels, so he sent me Wilwood 4 piston set, he says the Wilwoods will work with my existing rotors. Well guess what, Wilwoods wont work either. So am I buying new wheels, and what offset will work with the GM 6 piston big brake kit? They guy that sold me them doesnt know, and now Im totally confused or do I just use spacers? I hear bad things about spacers. Thanks folks.
you can probably use a 3 or 3.5 mm spacer with the OEM studs in the hubs. If you need more clearance, you will need to put longer studs in. To replace the studs, it is usually necessary to take the hubs out of the spindles, Spacers effect lug nut thread engagement, and the wheels stick out more.
You may be buying and returning wheels too to get proper clearance of the spokes. Also, be sure to check centering of the rotor in the center of the caliper.
Caliper interference with wheel spokes is often a wheel design issue, not a function of the wheel offset measurement,
None of the base C5/C6/C7 front wheels will clear C6 Z06/Grand Sport calipers. Those TSW wheels you asked about, on C5 General, will clear them and are inexpensive.
Thanks, Im getting ready to order the TSW Nurbergring 18 x 8.5 front and 19 x 10.5 rear at Les Schwab, they dont know for sure if they will fit the big brake kit? Do you have these wheels?
