Default No start, click

I have been having an issue lately getting my 2003 Z06 started. It was intermittent but now it just won't start at all. When I turn the key, I just get one click at the starter and no start. I took apart the clutch switch and cleaned it, though I don't hear a relay click in the passenger footwell when I push in the clutch. Should I be hearing that? Any help is appreciated!!! If you are in Jacksonville FL and want to give me a hand, I would appreciate it!

If you get a click at the starter then the clutch switch is clearly not the issue. Sounds like a textbook dead battery. Get it tested and go from there.

I had my battery tested. It tested good. I also bought a new battery just to be sure and it still wont turn over.

Sounds like time to have the starter tested then. If you're getting a click out of the starter that means everything between the key and the starter is good. The other thing that comes to mind is making sure the connections to the battery and the starter itself are all tight.

I did try to check the connections and they seem to all be good. Suggest going to dealer for starter replacement? Can this be done by pretty much any shop?

You are going to to have to do some meter testing at the Theft Deterrent relay in the passengers foot well. Its on the fire wall above the BCM. Thats the HEART of the entire starting system. It has four wires RED, PURPLE yellow and yellow black stripe. The RED id battery buss constant 12 VDC power, the purple is the starter solenoid hot wire

The Yellow is HOT when you crank the engine. The yellow / black stripe is a BCM ground. The BCM grounds that wire when its happy with the cars security.

If you turn the key to crank and pump the clutch peddle on and off the clutch switch, you should hear that relay clicking on and off. Below is the schematic. Check the fuses in the circuits.

So I just tried pumping the clutch with the key in crank position and I do hear clicking.

After some quick troubleshooting, I have come to the conclusion my starter/solenoid is the issue. I am willing to tackle this on my own. Can someone point me in the right direction of instructions on being able to get the car up high enough to work underneath?

I drive my car up on some 2x6 boards then use a low profile floor jack to lift the car and get it on jack stands, don't lift any one side to much at once.
