I recently purchases a lower mileage (approx 25K) '02. At the time of purchase, the car had been sitting, and the battery was dead. Since purchase, the battery has been replaced, and the vehicle has had a complete tune up and fluid change by the local Chevy dealership. The only this "wrong" with the car, is that the driver side door lock actuator has been a bit lazy, which I understand is a common problem, and a relatively simple fix. When the car is not in use, I do leave it the battery hooked up to a trickler.
On two separate occasions now, I've experienced some strange behavior at start up. The driver side panel for the doors, windows, mirrors goes completely dead, and the HUD perpetually cycles through almost every message imaginable, including: service vehicle soon, service active handling, low fuel, reduce ending power, service traction sys, check tire pressure, srv. tire mon, sys...and every warning light is illuminated. Cutting power and restarting doesn't necessary resolve the issue on the first try. Sometimes it is not until the next day that the issue just resolves itself.
Any thoughts? The dealership clearly didn't find any issues when I had them do a full work up, and the issue is difficult to recreate.
It can be a serial data bus issue .
Try wiggle these cables/connectors in both doors and see if you get any response .
You should also inspect these connectors , They should all look like upper left to avoid contact problems .
The upper middle contact will cause problems
Yes, as was mentioned by oelarse it sounds like a serial data bus issue to me...if this was happening at the dealership it’s sad that they could not diagnose it...all they would need is a scan tool, a CAN breakout box and a scope. Now do you mean these messages are scrolling across the DIC ??...I don’t know you’re mechanical skills but if you are going to take it back to the dealer for this issue have them concentrate on the data bus !!...and BTW welcome to the Forum !!
