Horn stopped working
I replaced the horn membrane 2 years ago and the horn stopped working again. I thought it might be the multi-purpose switch ( was having problems with right turn signal not lighting sometimes) so just replaced it. Still no luck. Tried switching relays and no luck. I jumped the horn and it works and works when I hit the fob. I would say that it is the membrane again, but when I connect a test light to the relay terminal, the battery positive and push the horn button it lights up. I assume that means the membrane is working and grounding like it should. Now it is hit and miss on lighting up, but I would think the horn would sound intermittently. Any ideas? I hate to replace the membrane and still no horn.

If the horn works with the FOB 90% of the circuit is good...right now I too have an inop horn but haven’t had time to diagnose it but I will in the next few days or week...mine also works with the FOB so I’m thinking MAYBE horn membrane but I don’t guess until I diagnose the circuit...maybe I’ll do a YouTube video...haven’t done one in a while.

OK, I tested the #5 pin on the C209 connector under the steering column and if I ground it manually the horn honks. So if my logic is correct that means the circuit is good but the button isn't connecting the ground. Think I am going to go ahead order a horn membrane. Thoughts?

FIXED! I already had the column apart so I went ahead and took the wheel apart. I removed the membrane and tested with a multimeter. Checked out fine. connected with clips to the wiring and horn worked when applying pressure to membrane. I put it back together and works. I am pretty sure the issue was the power wire to the cancel cam was loose. Glad I didn't order the membrane.

Well today I finally got around to looking at my inop horn. Horn membrane had continuity with DVOM
when depressed..looked at the power wire and the end had a little oxidation...a little emery cloth and some Stabilant 122 and all is good !!
