Hello Everyone,
I just bought a 2000 C5 Corvette convertible and the battery keeps losing it’s change. The ampmeter shows the alternates is putting out 13.5 amps.
Even with the car shut off, I hear a noise that sounds like the noise from moving the seat back or forth, only not as loud. It continues to happen for quite awhile after the car is shut off. I think that might be draining the battery.
Also, the headlight motor on the passenger side clicks and gauge lights flicker when I hook up a battery charger to the battery.
Any help you can give me I will greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick
Fully charge you battery and unplug your seats. If they battery doesn't die you found the problem. The power seats are a common cause for dead batteries in a C5. If the seats aren't the problem you need to do a draw test and see what circuit is causing the draw.

I'm hoping you mean 13.5 VOLTS, NOT AMPS!!! If it's just 13.5 amps, there's your problem. But I would guess you have some sort of parasitic draw. I had a BCM go bad, and it drained a new battery in less than 24 hours. Do you have a huge spark when connecting the battery cable? I mean a BIG spark. You may want to check with volt meter......
Headlight clicking and gauges flickering is probably due to the battery being discharged, power seat switches are a common cause of battery drain problems, fix that and your battery discharging problem should clear up.

A low battery can cause some of the clicking problems, especially when first connecting the battery cable(s). If you have the 12cd changer option, another clicking sound you may have is the changer in the trunk trying to index the CDs. You may want to have your battery load tested. Most auto parts, and some Stealerships, offer the service to you free......
If your BCM (body control module) doesn't shut everything down in proper sequence while its preparing to go to sleep, it can drain a battery overnight! I had this problem on my 2000 C5 Vert. I had a battery, 3 months old MAX, go dead in about 12 hours. Charged it fully, then foolishly waited for it to happen the very next morning. It did. So I got advice on this forum, pulled the BCM, took it to a local "Corvette repair shop", and they sent it in for repairs.......for $500!! WAY to pricey, I should've shipped around. But they did fix whatever was wrong. About 5 or 6 years later, same problem. So I paid close to $1,000 for one of the last new old stock BCMs available. Came right from Delco store in Detroit, Michigan area. That was 2014, and no problems since. When you send in a bad BCM, the repair shops fix only what is wrong, they do NOT "restore" the BCM with all new electronics. Hope this helps.......
Grinder11,
can you tell me where the BCM is located? I found a remanufactured one for $600 and it doesn’t look hard to swap out.
Also, how did you figure out it was the BCM that was the problem.
Before you spend money on a replacement BCM, I would ask that you spend some time on eliminating all other causes of your battery discharging. Yes BCM's do cause battery drain problems, but in most cases it's usually something else like your power seats. all I am saying is take some more time to pin point the problem before firing the parts cannon.
