Default Adding subs to audio system

So I changed my head unit in my C5 to the Dual Double Din XDCPA10BT and now I have the XVSI 2004 to get my door subs working and whatnot. I was wondering if I could add 2 12’s in the rear because my head unit has a connection to connect subs, backup camera, etc .. Is the XVSI like the ROEM (have to keep stock speakers) or the AOEM (add subs but keep stock radio) ?? Can I change add them or what ??

Of course you can add subwoofer to your current system. You will need to buy a separate amplifier to power the subwoofers. You will also need a subwoofer install kit (RCAs, power wire, ground wire, etc)
I have three C5s and all have modified stereos. Adding two 12" subwoofers will take up some room but it can be done. Most go with a single 12" subwoofer in the center compartment in the hatch. In my black 99 I run two 12" subwoofers in a prefab box. I have factory head unit in that Vette. It actually sounds great for the little money I put into it.

In my other 99 I have a Kenwood double DIN and factory speaker system. It sounds terrible so it is going to change. I already have the equipment (minus amp for mains) to do it. Adding two JL Audio amps, one for subs and one for the mains. Using Infinity separates in the doors and JL Audio sub in the center compartment.

In my 02 I went nuts.

In my younger years, I liked a lot of bass, and good, clean, undistorted LOUD volume levels. However, I can't even begin to imagine the vibration 2 12" woofers would add to an area as small as an auto interior!!! It would seem that EVERYTHING would be vibrated loose!!! I also cant believe I just said that!!! I could never have imagined how much different my audio tastes have changed from someone who, at 25 years old, couldn't get enough of Van Halens Running with the Devil, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Ozzy Osbourne, etc., to what they are now. Wow, age kinda sucks, 😆 🤣 😂
