This summer I bought a 2003 Corvette with a Lingenfelter supercharger. It has 29,000 miles and the installation of the supercharger was done by them when the car was new. Having read so much about harmonic balancer failures I decided it would be a good winter project. I got started today, and thanks to the many helpful posts on this site, it wasn't as bad as a feared. But, when I removed the bolt on the balancer, it revealed that it was pinned.
I'm assuming I should still replace it, right? I mean it's the rubber portion that causes failure, not the center portion. And if I do replace it, how do I pin the new one to match? Can I use the kits that are out there or do I need to have a machine shop modify the new on to match the old one?
I also had oil behind the bolt, yet the seal looks good. Not sure where it came from. It was like it came out of the crank threaded hole??
Sure would appreciate some tips from people that know about this then me!!
Was the balancer wobbling? It's pretty obvious that they changed/upgraded the balancer when they put the supercharger on. The P/N is for a CTS. I would leave it alone if it wasn't wobbling

Thanks! No wobble. Just was going to preemptively address the known issue. Looks like I will replace the seal behind it and put it back on!

I am seeing that the casting number 591220 referencing both the corvette and the CTS. I may call Lingenfelter Monday and see what they can tell me. It has been along time since they did the mods, but they were most helpful when I called them earlier this year. They even sent me the cars dyno sheet.

Looked at my balancer and it's the same PN. I would definitely call them. They are the best resource for that info. When I looked up the number it showed as a CTSV part and LS1 as a different number. If you went through all the trouble of removing everything already, it might make sense to upgrade the balancer. You'll still have to drill it again to add the pin.
