I’m in the middle of a clutch, headers, and differential rebuild job. I’ve decided to install Hinson motor mounts to match the new differential mount.
I have the intake and bell housing off so I can jack the motor up a couple of inches and have good access without the headers installed.
My question: Instead of messing with disconnecting the front suspension to lower the cradle, could I remove the mounts by removing the brackets that are attached to the block?
I’m thinking I could then attach the mounts to the brackets at my workbench and then lower them into place. I wonder how stable the motor would be with a floor jack under the oil pan. I would do one at a time of course.
I did mine with floor jack and piece of wood. I didn't drop cradle. I was rebuilding ac compressor so that side was easy. Drivers side was more difficult. I didn't remove headers either. You should have no issues doing it the way you are planning.
